[Movie Review] Cold War 2 寒战2

Cold War 2 is a 2016 Hong Kong-Chinese crime thriller film written and directed by Longman Leung and Sunny Luk. The film is a sequel to the 2012 box office hit, Cold War, and stars returning cast members Aaron Kwok, Tony Leung, Charlie Young, Eddie Peng, Aarif Rahman, Ma YiLi and Alex Tsui. joined by new cast members Chow Yun Fatt, Janice Man, Tony Yang and Bibi Zhou.
Synopsis:
Picking up some time after the events in the first movie, Sean Lau is now the Commissioner of Police after the successful rescue operation. However, things turn bad when his wife and daughter are kidnapped. Sean has to seek help from former rival and retired DCP, Waise Lee, to return to his job to help save Sean's wife and child.
My thoughts: I had high expectations for this film, since i enjoyed it's prequel. The casts of this film is just formidable. Having three best actors in one film, terrible is the last thing someone would say. In my opinion, Tony Leung's amazing performance totally stole Aaron's limelight and we have Chow Yun Fatt, whose stage presence is really no joke, his guest appearance definitely left an impact.
Eddie Peng and Yo Yang had always been decent actors and it was proved in this film. Yo Yang's most memorable scene was with Tony at the convenience store where both of them conveyed excellence acting with their eyes. Janice Man and Aarif Lee did nothing much to comment. Bibi Zhou's appearance really had me wonder why she was included in the official poster because she had no more than two lines and her screen time lasted for a few minutes.
The film ended abruptly just like it's prequel and i look forward to a third instalment.
